Sitecore has recently made changes to their product support lifecycle. These changes have been effective since 1 June 2026.
A thing that is notable and that might prompt some strategy adjustments for Sitecore XM/XP customers are the changes in the “Extended Support Phase” plan which now makes “Assistance with production incidents” and “Security updates and fixes” paid options instead of having them included. The support table states “Contact your Sitecore Account Representative to discuss options” for these two cases which means there MIGHT be options at additional charge.
In my 15 years of working on Sitecore projects, I’ve only needed assistance with production incidents a handful of times. So is production incident support worth paying for? For a customer with a strong in-house team or great agency support, I’d want to see the price before assuming yes. For a customer without, it’s not really optional.
Security updates and fixes on the other hand have always been a very common thing and Sitecore has always done a great job to provide quick updates and mitigations in case any vulnerability has surfaced. Not receiving security updates is absolutely not an option.

Is your version still supported?
Sitecore 10.5 was released just last week and has support into 2029. 10.4 still has mainstream support until end of 2027. Clients on 10.3, 10.2, 10.1 or 10.0 have now effectively lost security updates as of 1 June 2026, unless they now negotiate a paid support option with Sitecore which I strongly advise to do so even before planning an upgrade to 10.5.
What to do next?
Check the support table. If your version is not in mainstream support anymore, contact your sales rep. as soon as possible. In any case, plan to upgrade to 10.5 within the next year.
